About Me

All ages welcome, no prior experience required.

Hello! I’m Stephanie, a music teacher with over a decade of experience based in Silsden, West Yorkshire.

I am the orchestral conductor for the Sinfonietta and Symphony Youth Orchestras at Trafford Music Service and also the woodwind tutor and band leader at South Craven secondary school. I graduated from Leeds Conservatoire BA Mus(Hons) in 2012 and gained qualified teacher status studying a PGCE at the University of Huddersfield in 2014.

Out of my love of music my passion for teaching clarinet, flute, oboe and saxophone evolved. I have gained extensive experience teaching in both primary and secondary schools, privately and online. I believe in providing a dedicated, tailored and well prepared education. My students are pushed to achieve their full passion and potential whilst expanding their musical tastes from classical, jazz, broadway to modern.

I am ardent about building strong relationships and tailoring lessons to suit my individual student's needs. I provide a safe and nurturing environment to facilitate learning in a fun and engaging way. I have full DBS checks, safeguarding and first aid training. I have also undergone training in woodwind instrument repair and like to restore vintage instruments in my spare time. My other hobbies have also led me to qualify as a yoga teacher (RYT 200) which I regularly interweave into lessons to help students develop good breathwork, a strong technique and an inner awareness they can take with them in every day life.

What Others Say

Miss Reading has been an amazing teacher. She was my daughter's first musical instrument teacher and my daughter progressed quickly with playing the clarinet that she now plays in an Orchestra, thanks to her effort. Miss Reading challenges the children to practice and bring out the best in them. My daughter was able to progress from grade 1 to grade 3 and completed both exams in a year.

Mrs Enwemasor

Stephanie has taught both my children, she is friendly and professional, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. My son had clarinet lessons and, under her tutorship, he progressed quickly and confidently taking his Grade 4 exam when he was only 10 years old.

Mrs Platt

Steph Reading taught my daughter clarinet for 6 years and saxophone for 2 years. It is clear that Steph has a real love of all music and a natural ability to motivate and inspire her students. Steph is very articulate and can easily adapt her style so she is understood by her students of all ages.

Mrs Fox

I have known Miss Reading since 2015 as she has taught my children oboe, bassoon, flute and recorder. They have flourished under her direction, achieving good success in their music exams, whilst enjoying their music and lessons. Miss Reading has a supportive style that brings out the best in her pupils.

Mrs Robinson

Miss Reading made the lessons fun and enjoyable and it was nice playing duets with another oboe. She made me gain confidence in myself and encouraged me to go along to orchestras which I really enjoyed.
